MONDAY JUNE 23RD: REGULATION, LOTTERIES, TAXES AND HOLLAND-CHILE!

The first day of the Gaming in Holland Conference kicks off with an opening speech by Jörg Hofmann, president of IMGL (International Masters of Gaming Law). He will pass the microphone to keynote speaker Henrik Tjärnström, CEO of Unibet Group plc.

UNIBET’S HENRIK TJÄRNSTRÖM: CHANNELING MUST EXCEED 95%

Don’t miss this year’s keynote speech by Henrik Tjärnström, CEO of Unibet Group plc. on successful regulation in the Dutch gaming market.

Unibet welcomes regulation in The Netherlands and is one of the discussion partners for the Dutch government in the modernization process. Unibet has a wealth of experience in regulation: over the last 17 years, Unibet has obtained local licenses in over 7 European member states.

Mr Tjärnström strongly believes that for regulation to be successful, the ambition must be to channel at least 95% of Dutch demand to local online licenses. However as it is now, the projected level of channeling in the first year after regulation will not even reach 60%. This means that more than 300,000 Dutch citizens will continue to play outside a Dutch license and they will not be protected.  Policy makers must have the ambition to protect all Dutch citizens by channeling at least 95% of the Dutch demand. If not, the policy objectives will not be achieved and the .com-market status quo will remain as is.

The keynote speech will be followed by a presentation by Simon Holliday, MD at H2 Gambling Capital. He will give an overview of the Dutch gaming market in figures.

Mr Tjärnström and Mr Holliday will then hold a joint Q&A session.
